If you’ve ever been to a Subway restaurant, then you’ve come
face-to-face with a sandwich artist. These hoagie heroes, armed to the visors
with bread and hyper speed microwaves, put smiles on the faces of every customer
who walks through the door. The patrons, somehow justifying eating fast food by
saying “It’s only Subway,” have recently been demanding that the work of their
beloved artists be put on display for the world to enjoy. After forming a
petition and collecting over 100,000 signatures, the Subway groupies have
managed to convince the CEO of Subway to start construction on a Subway museum.
The grinder gallery will be built in Bridgeport, CT: the birthplace of Subway.
It will feature handcrafted submarine sandwiches from all over the world,
including rarities such as the oven-roasted ostrich and the moose marinara. When
interviewed about the museum, most of the sandwich artists were surprisingly
unenthusiastic. “This was only supposed to be a summer job,” said one sub virtuoso.
“I don’t want to be known for the rest of my life as a sandwich artist.” To the
disappointment of the artists, construction of the gallery is set to start in
May of 2014. A website has been created where customers can submit ideas for sandwiches
to be designed, sculpted, and placed delicately on display in the museum.
